With the award as the best engine in the 2011 MultiAir block is one of the proponents of lower consumption and fewer emissions created today. Small engines bi-cilíndricos (TwinAir) 900 cc have proven to be efficient, reliable and – above all – suitable for use in city cars. There that Fiat took a very important decision, incorporate the second generation of these engines in the new Fiat Panda 2012 MultiAir.
The new Panda will be presented at the IAA Frankfurt 2011 next month of September, and in turn released the thrusters MultiAir II under its hood. Technical details are not known, but something that insured will consumption very low gasoline and emissions reduced also. These MultiAir engines provide unparalleled flexibility, capable of being coupled to start/stop systems and work with Compressed Gas (CNG).
Panda 2012 will be offered with a wide range of proponents to choose from, 1.2 Fire with 69 HP, the above-mentioned TwinAir of 900 cc with powers of 65 HP for the atmospheric and 85 ft·lbf with turbocharger. Block will also be available diesel MultiJet 1.3 litre with 75 or 95 horsepower. Unlike the TwinAir of the Fiat 500 and Lancia Ypsilon, the second generation will have a new oil with variable displacement pump.
Fiat promises consumption even lower emissions, and the first engine to enjoy new technologies will be the TwinAir of 65 HP. Later, Fiat Powertrain Technologies will develop a dual TwinAir bloc, that will work with petrol and methane, as well as prepare the engine with 105 HP to the more powerful version even prepared by Abarth; While a hybrid variant would also be intended to enter into development.
